June Dates Confirmed for Virtual Edition of 2021 East Coast Music Awards: Festival & Conference

The East Coast Music Association (ECMA) has announced rescheduled dates for the virtual edition of the 2021 East Coast Music Awards: Festival & Conference, which was moved online last week due to renewed concerns about rising COVID-19 numbers in Nova Scotia. This virtual celebration of East Coast Music will now occur June 9-13, 2021, entirely online.

The 2021 East Coast Music Awards Show will take place on Thursday, June 10. The Virtual Music & Industry Awards, which include the 2021 ECMA Honorary Awards recipients announced yesterday, will be presented on Sunday, June 13. Both award shows will be streamed online via the ECMA’s Facebook and Youtube channels.

Conference sessions for the ECMA virtual industry conference, Our Music Means Business, will also occur June 9-13, with a select few mentorship and educational opportunities running in the weeks leading up to the new conference dates. Registered participants for the 2021 conference will not have to re-register for the new dates. The ECMA and its Canadian and international delegates are working together to move the Export Buyers Program to fit within the new dates.

“We want to thank each and every artist and industry professional, as well as our staff, contractors, and partners, who continue to adapt to each change with positivity and perseverance,” says ECMA CEO, Andy McLean. “We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our world-class regional talent and honouring the winners of the 2021 East Coast Music & Industry Awards in June.”

“The ECMA has once again shown the kind of leadership that has made our music industry the toast of Canada and the world,” said Communities, Culture and Heritage Minister, Suzanne Lohnes-Croft. “I look forward to hearing our fine musicians perform in June, as do all Nova Scotians. Their songs and music make our culture come alive and enrich our souls.”

The East Coast Music Association says it would like to thanks all its artists, industry professionals, staff, and partners for their continued work to bring this event to life, even virtually. "The last year has been anything but easy, but ECMA is determined to celebrate our members that live and work on the East Coast."

Further announcements regarding the June 9-13, 2021 East Coast Music Awards: Festival and Conference will be unveiled over the next couple of weeks.
