On Saturday night, follwing the high-energy performances and celebrations at Knoxville’s Tavern in Calgary, Alberta Music and WILD 953 announced the top three award recipients at Project WILD’s finale event. Following a week-long boot camp, a series of showcase performances, charity challenges, and public voting, the Top 3 Award recipients are as followed:
1st Place ($100,953) – The Prairie States (Edmonton)
2nd Place ($75,000) – Ryan Langlois (Red Deer)
3rd Place ($50,000) – Leaving Thomas (Calgary)
After performing one last time on Knoxville’s stage as part of the program, each artist was presented with their award cheques – a career-changing prize for each of the three finalist.
Created in hopes of fostering the Alberta music industry and creating a sense of community among artists and industry professionals, Project WILD has played a role in launching the careers of many local artists including previous Top 3 finalists The Dungarees, Brad Saunders, Sykamore, Nice Horse, Ken Stead and Tanya Ryan.
