The Coalition for Music Education has launched an expansive study on the state of music education in Canada. The National Study: A 2020 Landscape of Music Education in Canada was launched to inform the Coalition's work in advocacy and provide support for music educators across the country.
Together with partners including the Canadian Music Educators’ Association, Music Canada, MusiCounts, the Canadian Network for Arts and Learning, and People for Education, the Coalition is working toward establishing a national understanding on access to quality music education in every province and territory.
To complete its data collection, the Coalition has three different surveys for educators: Specialist Music Teachers (Elementary or Secondary), for teachers who primarily teach music; Generalist Elementary Teachers, for teachers who mostly teach a wide variety of classroom subjects along with some music; and School Administrators, to gain input from the main office.
The teacher surveys should take less than 10 minutes. Complete the survey by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 31st to have your name entered in a draw for a gift card from Long & McQuade. Each completed survey also gives you an entry into a draw for one of three $5,000 school instrument grants provided by MusiCounts.
