The Canadian Live Music Industry Awards will take place on Friday, May 11th at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in the Dominion Ballroom, from 4-6 p.m. Again this year, the awards will be hosted by Paul Shaffer and will feature a special performance by Billy Talent, recipients of this year’s lifetime achievement award: Legends of Live Special Achievement Award.
Award categories recognize the breadth and depth of the people behind live music. Those interested can nominate their company, non-profit, themself, or those they admire. The quick and simple nomination process is explained in depth on the CMW website.
In addition to the existing categories, Music Canada Live has announced the new Community Impact Award, exclusive to members of Canada’s national live music industry association. “This Music Canada Live members-only award seeks to honour businesses, social enterprise, non-profits, initiatives and/or individuals making a significant impact through live music in their community,” says Erin Benjamin, Executive Director of Music Canada Live. “We are thrilled to introduce this new category and proud to shine a spot-light on key initiatives, led by our members, on behalf of their communities.”
Visit http://cmw.net/awards/live/ to submit nominations. Voting will begin after March 26th. Nominations are encouraged from and for all live music stakeholders from across Canada.
Music Canada Live Members in good-standing are eligible for a 25% discount on awards tickets, and a 30% discount on full CMW conference registration. Contact Victoria Shepherd at vshepherd@musiccanadalive.ca to access the discount and/or to join the association.
