New Managing Director Appointed for the Coalition for Music Education

unnamed The Coalition for Music Education has announced the appointment of Patricia Valenteyn as managing director, effective Jan. 15, 2018.  Most recently, Valenteyn has been national programs manager at The Royal Conservatory.

Welcoming her appointment, the Coalition Chair, Dr. Eric Favaro, says, “I am delighted to welcome Patricia Valenteyn as the new managing director of The Coalition for Music Education. This appointment reflects the Coalition’s commitment to further expanding and deepening its advocacy initiatives to ensure that all students in all schools in Canada have access to quality music education.  Ms. Valenteyn brings with her a wealth of expertise, both as a leader and an innovator, at a key point in the Coalition’s evolution.”

Valenteyn is an arts and learning specialist with more than 15 years of experience managing national and international initiatives.  She has been involved in a wide range of roles, including accounting, artist certification coordination, national program management, project development, fundraising, and stewardship. She comes to the Coalition at a time where her broad range of experience will ensure she, along with the Coalition staff and board of directors meet the objectives of Vision 25 and the Coalition’s new strategic plan, according to the organization.

Reflecting on her appointment, Valenteyn says, “I am very excited at the prospect of leading the Coalition for Music Education as it continues to grow, and I look forward to expanding engagement with key stakeholders in every province and territory in Canada and with the music industry.”
