MusiCounts Hosts First Virtual Town Hall

The first-ever MusiCounts Town Hall took place on May 19th and was livestreamed on the organization’s Facebook page. Moderated by MusiCounts’ Nick Godsoe, the discussion explored the impact of COVID-19 on music education in Canada, touching on topics such as how teachers are adapting to teaching music remotely and what the lasting ramifications of COVID-19 might mean for music education once schools reopen.

Joining Godsoe were four music educators from across Canada:

Mark Reid – District Resource Teacher with the Vancouver School Board and 2013 MusiCounts Teacher of the Year.

· Kim Hastings – Music Teacher at Pioneer Middle School in Rocky Mountain House, AB and 2019 MusiCounts Teacher of the Year.

· Dianne Winmill – Music Teacher at North Hastings Regional High School in Bancroft, ON, and 2017 MusiCounts Teacher of the Year.

· Andrew Mercer – E-Music Teacher at the Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation with the Newfoundland and Labrador Ministry of Education.
