Inspired by their experiences in Nashville, two Toronto-based songwriters, Katherine Ross and Andrew Bontempo, have started a monthly series of songwriter meet-ups in Toronto called Write-On. They are inviting any songwriters in and around the city to drop in to share their songs and stories, share how they wrote them, and network with likeminded people in the music industry.
Ross and Bontempo says that while spending some time in Nashville, they realized there were few similar opportunities for songwriters in Toronto to showcase their songs in an immersive setting.
The first Write-On event took place in March of 2019 and are held on the last Wednesday of each month. The next one is Wednesday, Oct. 30. There will be four spots available during the course of each evening where songwriters can perform their best songs to a listening and attentive audience.
For the initial launch, Write-On is partnering with the Super Market (268 Augusta Ave.) in Toronto’s famed Kensington Market neighbourhood.
Songwriters who are interested in performing during a Write-On event are asked to go to the website and sign up.
