Mariel Buckley Wins Project WILD's $100K Grand Prize

On Saturday at at Knoxville’s Tavern in Calgary, following some high-energy performances, Alberta Music and WILD 953 announced the Top 3 Award recipients at Project WILD’s season finale event. Following a week-long boot camp, a series of showcase performances, charity challenges and public voting, the Top 3 Award recipients are as follows:

1st Place ($100,953) – Mariel Buckley (Calgary, AB)

2nd Place ($75,000) – Mariya Stokes (Stavely, AB)

3rd Place ($50,000) – Blake Reid Band (Carstairs, AB)

After performing one last time on Knoxville’s stage as part of the program, each artist was presented with their award cheques – a career-changing prize for each top-three finalist.

Created in hopes of fostering the Alberta music industry and creating a sense of community among artists and industry professionals, Project WILD has played a role in launching the careers of many local artists including previous Top 3 finalists The Dungarees, Brad Saunders, The Prairie States, Sykamore, Nice Horse, Ryan Langois, Ken Stead, Tanya Ryan and Leaving Thomas.
