LVS Announces Winners of Inaugural “Becoming” Emerging Artist Contest

Lawson Vocal Studios (LVS) is excited to announce the winners of the inaugural “Becoming” contest for emerging artists, sponsored in part by Canadian Musician. Out of the hundreds of entries received, eight promising emerging artists were chosen as the winners between the under-17 and 18-and-over categories, including overall Standout Artists Melissa Kadas and JESSIA, respectively.

“We are so impressed with not only the level of talent who submitted for our first-ever LVS Emerging Artist Contest, ‘Becoming,’ but the fact we received submissions from coast to coast has exceeded our expectations,” says Lorraine Lawson, founder of LVS. “When conceiving of this contest, we set out to bring our commitment for developing talent and to transform the 'singing contest' platform to one that would have massive and continuing value for each and every artist that took part."

The Becoming contest was held as a celebration of LVS's 5th anniversary, reflecting the idea that artists are constantly in a state of becoming and growing. Presented entirely online, the contest featured music artists from across Canada in multiple categories, ages 10-17 and 18 and above.  LVS is excited to share that the Becoming contest will return annually.
