CosmoFEST Brings Out Thousands of Fans & Musicians for Concert, Clinics, Gear Exhibition & More

MI superstore Cosmo Music in Richmond Hill, ON attracted some big-name artists and thousands of people to its 56,000-sq. ft. facility and four-acre property for the 2019 edition of CosmoFEST. The free, all-ages event had 14,000 registered attendees who came for the outdoor concert, gear exhibition, artist clinics, food trucks, community zone, and more.

Held on June 1st, the annual event hosted a free concert, which this year was headlined by Sloan, Finger Eleven, Chilliwack, Terra Lightfoot, and The Cosmo Soul Express. As well, the expanded instrument and gear expo tent housed exhibits from distributors and manufacturers showcasing their latest products, with more than 120 brands represented in all.

Among the highlights was a book-signing from Rush icon Geddy Lee, who, to the surprise of everyone, showed up with none other than Nirvana and Foo Fighters legend Dave Grohl!

This year, artist performance clinics were offered with Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain, session drummer Simon Phillips (Jeff Beck, The Who, Tears for Fears), drummer Omar Hakim (Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, Dire Straits), Danger Danger guitarist Andy Timmons, Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick, and Down From Up guitarist Andy Wood.

The thousands of music fans roaming the festival site were also treated to a diverse array of food trucks, a kids zone where people of all ages could get hands-on with instruments, special discounts and contest being offered by suppliers, and a live taping of the Geeks & Beats podcast with Alan Cross and Michael Hainsworth.
