We're excited to bring you brand new video for Words Like Wildfire's hard-hitting track "Painted Pictures," which features guest vocals from Luke Snider of The Parallel. The vid puts you right in the middle of the pit for one of the band's explosive performances - a good reminder of the power of live music when we need it most...
"Visually, 'Painted Pictures' was made to showcase our live energy," bassist/vocalist A.J. Chmilar tells Canadian Musician. "It has the most 'early 2000s' feel from the intro, and we wanted the punk venue roots to really be showcased. Our light show is also an integral part of the performance and we really try to have the choice of colour palette reflect the song; 'Painted Pictures' in particular stood out as being very 'purple,' which you’ll notice no shortage of in the DMX programming."
The footage, shot and produced by Steve Haining, comes from a full performance of the track, so while the master audio has been laid overtop, one would get a similar experience watching the raw capture.
"Musically, this song existed in some form long before Words Like Wildfire," Chmilar continues. "Avery had it filed away as an orphan song from a previous project and it seemed to resonate immediately with what we were trying to create. Lyrically, it’s deliberately quite open ended but hits on some similar themes of the first single, “The Rain,” or seeing a significant person in your life struggle and trying to maintain healthy boundaries while still offering genuine love and support. Luke’s vocal feature was a cherry on top of an already delicious sundae and we can’t thank him enough for his contribution."
