You probably know Clayton Bellamy as the guitarist for the mighty Road Hammers, the highest-selling Canadian country band in history; however, he was recently compelled do something fresh, exciting, and out of his wheelhouse, which inspired him to launch his new venture, Clayton Bellamy & The Congregation. Channeling influences from vintage R&B and gospel to jagged rock and roll, this is a no-holds-barred reboot for a gifted guitarist, singer, and songwriter.
We're thrilled to bring you a first look at the video for "Resistorz" from the album Welcome to the Congregation in our latest #CMPremiere! The single is currently available across all the major streaming platforms.
"'Resistorz' is a call to arms - a rally cry against hate, against injustice, and against false truth," Bellamy tells Canadian Musician. "It was inspired by our current events and media that tries to tell us that there is no hope in sight when in reality, all we need is to look to each other in love and we can find all the hope that we need."
Directed by Travis Nesbitt and featuring Zach Graham, the video was shot in the California desert over five days and, according to Bellamy, represents the state of our human condition and how we need to rise up from the sand and take back our lives and humanity.
"And it was also an excuse to ride some bad ass motorcycles," he tacks on.
Characterized by Bellamy’s blazing guitars and signature urgency as a vocalist, replete with hard rock edges and Aerosmith-worthy riffs, Welcome to the Congregation is a no holds barred, rip it up rock record. Unapologetically raw and undeniably powerful, it’s music he intends to lose himself in on stage and invite audiences to do the same. “That’s the whole idea of the Congregation. Live, you’re part of it. It’s rock and roll church; we’re bringing the gospel and I’m the preacher man," says Bellamy.
